SIT LHI teachers during the English Speaking Test organized by PLC April 2026

April 11, 2026 — Yogyakarta, Indonesia

On Saturday, April 11, 2026, 82 teachers from SD and SMPIT LHI took part in the English Speaking Test LHI, organized by the Pioneer Language Center (PLC). The English Speaking Test at SIT LHI was held as part of PLC’s ongoing effort to develop English proficiency among teaching staff — a critical foundation for delivering quality bilingual education through CLIL.

English Speaking Test at LHI: Who Participated
The 82 participants in the English Speaking Test at SIT LHI included primary and junior high school teachers with diverse roles — CLIL teachers, non-CLIL teachers, and boarding school mentors (Musyrif/Musyrifah). This wide participation reflects SIT LHI‘s commitment to building English competency across all areas of the school, not just in language classrooms.

The decision to include teachers beyond CLIL roles demonstrates that bilingual education at SIT LHI is a whole-school effort. When all educators — regardless of their subject — develop their English proficiency, students benefit from a more consistent and immersive language environment.

How the English Speaking Test Was Conducted
Participants were assessed through a structured speaking test at two proficiency levels — B1 and B2 — based on the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). A team of 10 PLC examiners worked in pairs to assess each participant through guided conversations and interactive tasks.

The B1 level assessed participants’ ability to communicate in everyday situations, while the B2 level evaluated more advanced skills such as expressing opinions, discussing abstract topics, and sustaining longer conversations. This two-level approach allowed PLC to accurately gauge each teacher’s current proficiency and identify areas for further development.

“A day of courage, growth, and inspiration — showcasing the commitment of our teachers to excellence in language learning and teaching.”

Why the English Speaking Test at LHI Matters
Strong teacher English proficiency is the foundation of effective CLIL and bilingual education. The English Speaking Test is one of PLC‘s key instruments for ensuring this growth continues — supporting SIT LHI‘s long-term vision of a strong bilingual learning environment across all school levels.

By making the speaking test a regular practice, PLC helps create a culture where continuous improvement is the norm. Teachers are encouraged not only to meet proficiency benchmarks, but to grow as confident English communicators who inspire their students every day.
