The Pioneer Language Center (PLC), the language development unit under Yayasan Pionir Pendidikan Indonesia (YPPI), served as the lead facilitator in an English teaching training for primary school teachers across Bantul Regency. The training was titled “Making English Come Alive: Practical Teaching for Young Learners.”

The event was organized by the Primary School Principals’ Working Council (MKKS) of Bantul Regency, with the goal of strengthening the teaching competencies of English teachers at the primary school level.

Creative and Engaging Teaching Methods
The training was held at the Hall of SD Unggulan Aisyiyah Bantul and attended by 70 teachers from 17 sub-districts. PLC introduced creative, meaningful, and enjoyable approaches to teaching English for young learners.

The first session was led by Satonah, who presented the key characteristics of young learners. She emphasized the importance of understanding children’s learning styles to ensure that teaching is both effective and developmentally appropriate.

Ika Mayliana then shared a range of practical teaching techniques, including interactive games, kinesthetic activities, and ice-breaking exercises designed specifically for primary school students.

Hands-On Collaboration Among Teachers
Beyond theory, participants engaged in active discussions on the challenges and solutions of teaching English at the primary level. Teachers also collaborated to design and simulate innovative teaching techniques — creating a space for mutual inspiration and stronger classroom practices.

Positive Responses from Participants and Organizers
The training received enthusiastic responses from participants. Latifa, a teacher from Bantul Sub-district, shared her experience:

“This training is very impressive. We gained a lot of new knowledge about how to teach English in our classrooms. We practiced peer teaching with fellow teachers, and the mentors provided us with materials that can be directly applied in our schools.”
— Latifa, Primary School English Teacher, Bantul

Budi Santosa, Head of MKKS Bantul, also expressed his appreciation:

“The training ran smoothly thanks to the excellent facilitators. We hope the knowledge gained can be implemented in each school to improve the quality of education in Bantul, especially in English language teaching.”
— Budi Santosa, Head of MKKS Bantul

MKKS Bantul hopes this training will serve as a stepping stone toward building a stronger English learning ecosystem across all primary schools in the regency.
